Managing Communities without Losing Yourself.
Kara Foley shares her 30-year journey in community management and the life experiences that shaped her along the way. Her story includes door-to-door Amway sales, running a hot dog cart,becoming a single mom, surviving breast cancer, building a career in community management,launching a podcast, creating a mentorship program, and writing Mommy the Manager.
This presentation offers an honest, heartfelt, and practical look at what it means to serve communities while still protecting your peace, your family, and yourself. Kara will speak to HOA managers, board members, and business partners about the real pressures of the industry,including increased expectations, after-hours demands, night meetings, emergency calls, and the challenge of being fully present at home when the job never seems to stop.
Through personal stories, industry insight, and practical takeaways, attendees will explore how better communication, stronger systems, clearer expectations, and true partnership can help create a more sustainable path forward for everyone involved.
This session is a reminder that we can love this industry, serve our communities well, and still make room to breathe, reset, and be present for the people and moments that matter most.
